thoughtless braskeds

Parked the car in Dun Lousey on Saturday and went in to watch the Irl-v-Eng match. Had a good time - enjoyed the match - got back to the car and when unlocking it, got the 'different' beep that meant the alarm had gone off. No windows broken so drove home as normal... The next day in daylight, to my horror, I found a huge dent and scratch on the drivers door where some inconsiderate basket had obviously reversed into it, triggering the alarm in the process and then driven off :x . I'm more than a bit miffed over this - more like ding-diddly-dang-disgusted!!! In fact - I hope they get infested with the fleas of a thousand camels and it rains cat pi$$ on them for the next two years...

On a more sober note - there's a half football sized dent, which has formed itself partially around the side impact bar - i.e. it won't pop out - along with some nasty scratches and some residue from some cnuts black plastic bumper.
Has anyone any suggestions as to what to do / how much it would cost to fix? For obvious reasons I don't want to call the insurance co. (don't fancy the vaseline and bending over bit for the next 5 yrs).

Sorry for the long post - just needed a rant after what happened...

Hate it when that happens to anyone... I saw a driver catch the car next to her when backing out one day, waited to see what would happen... she stopped and thought about it for a second, then just backed out and drove off. I left a note on the guys windscreen with her reg and he got sorted after.

Sounds like it wasn't just a slow backing out dent, there was either a little speed there or he/she kept going after making contact with yours.

I guess you have 2 options, bring it to a body shop and see how much it would be to get that door fixed, or get another door and have it painted to match the rest of the body.

Hope you get it sorted without too much pain!

Sorry to hear what happened to your car and hope you get it sorted without too much expense.

There's an FTO drivers door going on ebay at the moment, red if I remember, it was about £35 + Postage. Don't know what that would be from England though.

Secondly, I don't know where you were, but is it worth seeing if there is a CCTV camera that might have recorded it happen?
