got up this morning,car would not start...i think the alternator is gone in it..can they be fixed or how much would a new one cost....

Silly question i know but are you sure it isn't just a flat battery, with a light or something left on overnight :?:

In answer to your question, alternators can be refurbished... do a search for alternator on the site and you'll find plenty posts on it.

I'd eliminate other stuff first though, battery have fluid in it?

Mark, how did you come to the conclusion that the alternator is the problem?
Search the forums for 'alternator', there were plenty of previous threads on this topic in the past.

its the alternator alright..does anyone know how they can be taken out,my mechanic is having problems with it...

i had mine done in Almax, they took mine out, refurbished it and replaced it for €160 cash. Almax are on the cromwelsfort road in walkinstown dublin.
