problems with aircon

Postby mick_dont_surf » Mon Feb 06, 2006 11:10 am

has anybody else had this problem,
the front windscreen will mist over. it happens very quickly, 2 secs
no matter what temp the heat is on.
the only way to clear it is to put down the windows.
it seems like its not keeping constant temp.

there is also a damp smell in the car when you put on the fan, any ideas?
cheers

Check the passenger footwell for dampness first, it you find any then its most likely that the heater matrix has gone pop :?

See http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... php?t=1730

If you don't find any dampness then you probably just need to get the system regassed.

didnt make much sense especially with the other probs

whats the crack with getting the heater fixed
cost? parts? were?
im still under my warranty from the dealer so he should fix it ??

also my rear window heater keeps flicking off
sometimes it wont come on at all???

Mick, theres a bit of work involved, check out Storms guide in the FTO Knowledgebase forum. I can't comment on price, pm steelroe or Ricerocket, also worth noting that Chuck removed his airon system recently and may have a spare heater matrix.

The heater matrix is seperate from the aircon and if you are replacing it I would go for a brand new one. For a few quid (Euros!) more it's worth doing and forgetting for another ten years.
