scatty steering

Hi my mivec's steering has recently started behaving strangley, it seems if i hit a bump it pulls the steering to one side. its not pulling to anyone side in particular if i go over a bump on either side it will pull to that side. annoying when overtaking as it's like steering on ice! i'm going to have the tracking looked at the end of this month and i'm hoping its nothing more serious?

I'd say look at these:

Tracking arms/rods & ball joints
and while you're under there anyways
drop links

the drop links aren't connected to the steering but when I replaced mine I found they made a huge difference in the way the car handled bumps - also it's the type of thing that you can never really replace too often.

Any suspension mods, e.g. lowering ,etc?

I lowered mine and found that before I got it aligned again, given any encouragement it wanted to go its own way, e.g. hit a puddle at the side of the road it decided it wanted to pull towards the ditch.

I'd recommend check out the track rod ends and droplinks etc like Muad said, but get the car's alignment checked. Not too expensive and makes the world of difference to your handling.
