Caught speeding - issued points...

Postby mcgon1979 » Thu Apr 30, 2009 4:45 pm

Just got stopped (well chased with some gusto by a young fella inan un-marked mondeo) after I drove by the fella who was hiding in the ditch. I was doing 70 in a 50 zone...
2 points and 80euro. thanks very much. Ah well. I know its not like a crashed the car but I'm well bitter. Have a clean license since I got it. No parking tickets, no speeding tickets, nothing. Now my license is endorsed with these points for 3 years. Quinn will love it. As if I don't have enough insurance problems. ZZZzzzz.....
Doesn't feel justified really, even though, yes I was over the limit. what a pain in the stones. I feel like one of those people who say "why aren't they out getting real cirminals"... oh wait? thats me right?

I'm not sure about Quinn but anytime I've looked for quotes I'm asked if I have two or less.
It mightn't be as bad as you think.

ah yeah lads, I know. It;s nt that bad etc. It's not the money etc, its just the points. I was happy having a clean license now I feel its tarnished with this crap and I didn't even deserve it. ALright, I obviously deserved them legally (70 in a 50 etc) but I was just tipping, not in a hurry at all, wide road, no traffic, so feel aggrieved a bit.
I suppose there have been times in the past 3 or 4 years when I probably DID deserve them though (as most of could probably admit to) so I am lucky to have avoided them so long. and yeah it will seriously make me super awar eof 50kph zones now. so I guess they have served their purpose.
its good to come on here and offload it. Otherwise I would be kicking stuff now.

Don't worry about it - a clean license isn't really of any benefit to you in the real world. Maybe it matters if your profession is driving perhaps ?

I can't even count the number of parking / rules infringement / speeding tickets that I've received over the years. None of which have ever had any impact on anything - apart from my wallet of course. I don't generally speed any more, but my last 2 speeding points expired about a year ago, so I was happy to be 'clean' again, then I racked up 3 more points in the space of 2 weeks - 1 for making a left turn at 18:50 when there was a restriction in place from 16:00-19:00 and 2 more for breaking a light (I still maintain it was amber), when I shouldn't have

2 for breaking an amber light! ouch! I do that all the time if its clear or if I feel Im going to fast to SLAM on. I suppose I should not feel so aggrieved. Cheers for the moral support lads. Was seriously seriously bitter when I came in the door there earlier. It's good to know it won't affect insurance really if its just 2 points. Still, I could think of better things to do with 80euro right now. Who couldn't. :D

i hear you mcgon.

it's not the cash .. it's the damn points .. and it seems FOREVER till they are erased. ( ie : in my country they are ''erased'' in 6 months not 3 LONG years .)

i got 2 points doing 73 in a 60 zone. . bugger
mate of mine got 2 points doing 160 in a 100 zone ..

so what's the real difference ?

Your mate was lucky I would have thought - that's serious speed to be doing. I'm surprised that he didn't get a court appearance for hitting 160kph

Theres a novel idea... Yeah its true alright. As I said I didn't realise I was speeding. I drifted above the limit as Im sure happens to all of us most days. but I certainly will be paying more attention for the next 3 years so they points have proven their point so to speak. :ll :ll :ll

I was raiging when I got done on the motorway.
Funny thing is I pulled in for them before the garda could even put the speed gun away
I knew I was cought so no point fighting it.

The garda was dead sound about it in the end too
