Wheel nut won't come off

Guys,

bit of an unusual one I guess...

A wheel nut on one of my wheels won't come off, its just turns and turns but doesn't come off. I guess the bolt is after coming out of place at the back or the splines are knackered, but whichever it means that it just turns and doesn't come off.

Anyone come across this and have a way of sorting it out? or any suggestions? I'm trying a few guys around the place to see if they can get the nut off but haven't had any success yet.

Here's hoping I don't get a puncture in that wheel in the meantime!!

I reckon you're gonna have to drill the bolt out, but don't take my word for it!
A decent trye fitter should know whats required if they get the car up on a ramp.

Ive had that problem before, the edges on the back of the wheel stud have rounded and its jsut spinning around in the hub.

I had to chisel/drill off the wheel nut then drill/bash out the stud!

Ya, thats what it came down to, pure butchery! Ah well, have it replaced and all so its all nicely in order again.

i was just reading that and i thought i would share waht happened with me.had the same problem myself and instead of going to the local garage which was 5 mins away i decided to do what you did but unfortunitly my tools slipped and left a nice big scratch down my alloy.so your lucky ya got steadier hands than me.next time i would advice the local garage.ya never know

Thats what I was afraid of happening, but could easily happen at the local garage too, although I guess then you could get them to pay for the alloy refurb!

I put a few wedges of wood around the bolt, but once i had drilled through the head of the bolt that stopped the drill from wandering away, so just the initial drilling was the dodgy bit.

Prob helped being braver with it when I just have standard 16"ers!
