window tints...

Postby karlf » Sat Oct 07, 2006 1:27 pm

Thinking bout getting the windows tinted on my white fto 1.8 gs auto. Cant decide whether to go for the normal tint or something different. What do people think would look good on a white fto????? I like the blue that fades into a mirror effect. If anyone has an opinion I'd be glad to hear it, thanks.

Gotta say, I'm not a fan of big blue fonts

Anyway, with regard to tints, I reckon the faded mirror look should be reserved for Puntos, Micras and Astras, go black!

A light black tint.

Please don't put a mirror tint in - it will ruin the look of the car.

Get stopped on a regular basis anyway so dont think it'l make that much of a difference. Latest one was monday 2nd Oct, pulled me in looked at my licence asked were i lived(i was 20sec from my house at the time), checked the tax insurance and drove off. This must have happened a dozen times since i got the car.

sorry CJ, just trying to be different, add a bit of colour to the forum. Black is ssssooooooooo boring!! I'l keep the font size medium if thats any better. Was just checking to see how large, large was.

karl, even if you do get stopped alot, the point is that the tints will be illegal as the standard windows are apparently close to the limit.
Im not one to worry abt illegality but you will invariably be quite pissed off if they tell you to remove the tints...doubtful i know but could happen

I am going getting my pass and drivers window done in limo black, apparently the guy i am going to told me all tints are now legal(except front windscreen) he was saying a lad got stopped by the guards for a loud backbox, tints etc.... went to court and he got done on the loud backbox but the judge said the tints were ok as there is alot of limos going around with them and nothing said about obstructing there view.So you could argue the point if need be as it was a judge that passed his car :!:

Postby karlf » Mon Oct 09, 2006 4:14 pm

is there somewhere that can take a pic of your car and let you see what it would look like with different tints on it???????? So far its 100% for normal black(thanks for the opinions guys) As far as the law goes on tints, i heard none on windscreen(except factory standard or those reactive ones) back and rear as dark as you like and front has to allow 75% of light through. They actually have a device that measures this, seen it on one of those police stop programmes
