steering wheel replacement

Postby djabie » Sat Feb 16, 2008 4:06 pm

Hi all
Thinking of changing my standard steering wheel for something with a bit more grunt !!!!
Problem is i have got an airbag ( not the wife though somtimes she is) anyway.

Q. Is it hard to change ive never done one with an airbag?
Q. Will the airbag go off in my face when i dismantle it?
Q. When replaced will the nasy airbag light stay on?
Q. What aftermarket wheel would you recommend on a shoe string budget

Thanks for any replys im sure some of you guys have tackled this one before without gettin a faceful of airbag
cheers....

Air bag light will come on, so you will have to remove the bulb.
Personally I would prefer the protection of the air beg to the look of the steering wheel. I presume yours is the momo fitted with the air bag.

I ahve a omp wheel for sale in the "FOR SALE" section of this forum.

I'm with steelroe on this one, I'd only change if the wheel didn't have an airbag, they're useful things to have if it ever comes to the crunch! An alternative would be to install a late model OEM EVO wheel with the airbag in place.

The 4 spoke one is an awful looking yoke. If you could change then change to a 3 spoke momo with the airbag.

I changed to an Isotta flat bottomed - but if I had the standard Momo with the airbag I wouldn't have bothered.
