Change in circumstances means I almost certainly have to let this go. Looking at the heading abroad option. Will take €3750 for her. Still needs the NCT but the Throttle Position Sensor could be the cause of the high emissions as I found out last week. PM me if anyone has questions. The link above is still active...

More detailed history is called for I think;

I bought this car in June 2008 as a 5 speed Tiptronic GPvR Aero Series. After a few weeks the gearbox started acting up so instead of trying to fix a Tiptronic box whichI wasn't fond of in the first place, I opted for a manual conversion. The conversion was carried out by Rory aka Steelroe and since I have not had a single problem with the gears etc. The conversion also saw some parts being replaced for new ones such as the timing belt and clutch.
The milage at the time of the conversion was 102k KM. Now there is 112k KM on her.
Other maintainance has been done, such as 2 oil changes with Motul 10w 40. The Denso Iidium IK22 spark plugs replaced the standard ones at 108k, as did the replacement HKS air filter. The front bushes and droplinks were also changed less than 3k ago. The rear ones were left alone as the mechanic said thy were in perfect condition.
As must of you are aware I have been having difficulty with getting the emissions down for an NCT. In trying the cheapest options first, I have since replaced the lambda sensor with a universal one and replaced the engine temperature sensor. There is also a new Throttle Position Sensor arriving next week. The car has not done an NCT in about 2 months but everything passed with the exception of the emissions. The failed NCT sheet can be viewed as proof of this. Hopefully a new Cat onvertor and genuine lambda would get her through. Unfortunately due to current circumstances, I dont really have the money or time to buy these, get her NCT'd and sell her on. I think I have given a good history here but I feel I should point ou that no expense has been spared in maintaining this car.

The Good Bits!
GPvR Aero Series 2.0 Mivec with 112k KM
16'' original alloys BUT ALSO with a set of 17'' Enkei's in decent condition but requiring one tyre. (not on the car now)
Side Skirts but no GPvR spoiler
Blue Bucket Seats in great condition
White Dials with custom stainless steel rings
HID
LED reverse lights
Sony Xplode CD
Ralliart Front and Rear Struts
HKS Induction Kit
Clear Side Repeaters (MX5 style)
Lowered and Stiffened suspension (dunno the make but perhaps someone could carify? I think Colm knows....)
Momo Steering Wheel
Denso Iridium IK22 spark plugs
5Zigen exhaust
Recent change of clutch and timing belt
FTO Blanking Plate
and the best mod ever... a grounding kit!

The Bad Bits
No NCT because of emissons
2 small dents on drivers side (nothing major) and 3 holes on the boot lid where the old spoiler came off. Have been quoted around €300 to fix all this.
I did have a slight tip in her on the passenger wing which was replaced and repaired by Willie Vickery, a panel beater with a great reputation in Cork. The car has since done an NCT passing on everything except emissons. He also gave it a full polish for me at the time.

I feel I have been as honest and accurate as possible with the above. After reading what I have wrote I feel I gave the impression of a car needing plenty of work, but I assure you this is not the case. No money has been spared in ensuring this car was maintained well and kept in mechanically sound condition. Feel free to ask any questions and if anyone wants a test drive to see how she drives, be my guest!

I'd like to b getting around €3500 for her after th money Ive put in. We'll see how things go though..

Kinda of a bump really... Ive been torn about selling her but it looks almost certain now my job will be gone. My relationship with my boss has gotten worse so even if im not left go I cant see myself staying there... So the car is for sale regrettably, no real choice in the matter. Still hope to get the GPvR spoiler fitted from thomas after xmas so the holes in the boot will be gone.

Its now also NCT'd till 2011....

Crap Chris, isn't that a relatively new job? Not the same as the other one you were getting grief with the car with?

Look for another job, that way you get your way and get to keep the car.

wow! Sold for unreal price. beautiful car chris. sorry you had to let her go.
My car is very similar spec (aero gpvr manual 99, with same exhaust, decat, denso's, tein springs, immaculate, etc etc) and I was hoping I might get 4500 - 5000 for it. no chance I guess. I'll just have to hold onto it for a while more, at least till the car loan is gone. hard to believe I paid 10950 a few year back. I suppose thats how it goes.

Ah you'd probably get that alright, mine does have the 2 small dents and could probably do with the headlights clean.

@ MJ - Yeah I'm only there 8 momths or so. I just find them very difficult to work for. I'll probably try find a job til the end of the summer and go travelling.

Re: 1999 GPvR with pics and description - €3600!

Postby fatboyfat7 » Fri Feb 12, 2010 7:31 pm

Car now sold. I was sad to see her go, especially after getting 17'' white sparko alloys only 3 weeks ago and having the GPvR spoiler ready to be fitted. Went to a girl living in Galway who's boyfriend was a member here a few years back. Picked up a '97 1.4 Polo NCT'd til October for €320 as a run around fot the time being. Who knows what the future will bring though...
