Centre cap removal

Before I start a F/S thread looking for them, is there a special way of getting the centre caps off the alloys? I couldn't get the wheels balanced because the lad doing them said he'd have to break the caps to take the off (they're well and truly wedged on)

Was thinking that using heat or something would possibly work? Any ideas?

there's a metal clip holding them in from behind, pop them out then push on the mitsubishi logo side of the cap. the cap is fitted from behind the wheel.

Sounds like you had a real experienced guy doing the balancing for you there

You have to take the wheels off to get at the clip that holds it in place, and a long nose pliers might make it a bit easier to get them off. I'm surprised the guy fitting the wheels didn't already know that, my guess is he did and was just being lazy. They are not the only wheel to have a centre cap fitted this way so I'd be very surprised if he'd not seen it before.

To be fair the lad doing them seemed sound so I don't think it was lazyess on his part. Brought them in today anyway and got all 4 balanced for free so can't complain really.

€50 for getting 4 wheels fitted and balanced + disposable of old 4 seems good value to me.

1st layer of primer on the caps now, wheels comin off when this shower passes
