Much happier

Postby Bernard » Tue Jul 15, 2008 8:19 pm

I got the car back today having dropped it off at the mechanic yesterday.

Two new asymmetrical F1s, gearbox oil change and the exhaust practically sorted.
The steering now seems much lighter, the gear changes are slicker and it finally sounds like it should....lovely.

He did say that one of the flexi sections coming down from the engine is blowing a bit.
Can I get the flexi bit separately or am I looking at big bucks?

All in all though a big improvement, cue window down, smiley faced driving for a while :D

You can get a replacement flexi section - and most exhaust places that are any use will weld it in place for you.. HAvign said that though you will be charged for the pleasure. It's worth asking here does anybody have a down pipe lying about.

Keep in mind that if you're still lugging about with a set of standard downpipes you could look at getting BlueFlames or Moongooses slightly uprated version instead.. I did - and I'm chuffed to bits I did..
I'm not sure how much of an improvement it is - but car defo feels more revvy afterwards - and the note changes a slight bit..

Easy enough to install as well..

I was thinking that alright but they're both over £300 and I just spent a nice bit already.
I suppose I should price both option as the labour would be a major factor.

Saying that... the mongoose looks the biz.

The blueflame's pipes look to be quiet different lengths.

Am I right in thinking it's better to have the pipes the same length or was that something else?

well- some argue that one should always have the shortest lenght - whilst others feel it's important that the pipes are the smae lenght to insure the same load on both piston-banks..

Personally I went for the Mongoose cause that was the only one I had gotten feedback on at the time.. Pretty sure I paid less than 300gbp for it at the time though...check what RiceRocket can do it for.. I could be wrong..

My mistake, it's on offer at the moment, £249 so around €310.

Still too much at the moment I think.
