FTO Part suppliers in Dublin

Postby paulkenny » Fri Sep 30, 2005 10:01 am

Hi,
Had a bit of an incident this morning. Whoever did the timing belt on my fto never replaced the alternator & power steering belts at the same time. Anyway the power steering belt snapped this morning and the tensioner pulley at the bottom flew off the car and into the ditch at the side of the road. Does anyone here know of a Motor Factors / Mitsi dealer in the dublin area where I'd be able to get a new power steering belt and tensioner pulley??
Thanks for any help,
Cheers,
Paul

BTW.
If anyone's into doin weights ...no need to join a gym, just disable the power steering on ur FTO and it'll give ya good workout!! ;-)

All the bits you need are on Camskills website - give them a call - the stuff will be with you in a couple of days at a lot cheaper than you'll buy off Mitsi dealers.

Thanks for the info, I found the parts that I need on that website alright:
Belt:
http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... GR,GPvR,GX
Tensioner:
http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... s_Steering
I'll need a replacement nut that holds the tensioner on too. I guess a scrappy might be my only hope for that. Any suggestions??

Ps.
If anyone can think of a place near dublin for all of the above parts that would be great, I don't mind paying a bit extra if I can get them today.

I'd say you might struggle to get one in Dublin Paul, give a couple of the Mitsi garages a call and see if they haver one in stock, according to CAPS the p/n is MD306295, the same tensioner also appears on the VR-4\Legnum. Note that Camskill will be able to get it over to you by Monday if required.

Some of the Mitsi dealers might be able to get it for you for the morning if you get onto them early today? Usually anything they don't have in stock they can usually get the next day. Not sure will they be able to do it for you on a sat though...

I'd be inclined to disagree, any time I've asked a Mitsi dealer to get an FTO specific part, I've been quoted silly lead times, this is one of those times where I'd like to be proven wriong however ;) If theres none in the country, best case scenario is that they might be able to get one in from the UK.

Give Modo in Finglas a call, I've dealt with them a few times and I've found them to be pretty genuine.

I've been on to Ray Crofton Motors (Mitsi Dealer) and they can get me all the parts for tomorrow morning but I would really like to get them this afternoon as I'm supposed to drive down to Cork this evening. I assume that if they can get them for tomorrow morning that they must be getting shipped from some main parts center or something where I would hope I could collect from today. (Of course there is the chance that this place might only sell to mitsi dealers) Anyway has anyone any ideas where this place might be?

;)

Thats not a bad lead time Paul, you could find out where they're sourcing the part from and get a courier to pick it up :?:

Paul, if you're coming to Cork this evening, I have a power steering belt I got to put on my own FTO, you're welcome to take it if you need it, send me a replacement when you get hold of it. I don't have the ps tensioner or bolt.

I got the usual set of belts to put on my GR, the timing belt, alt belt, power steering belt and timing belt tensioner I think it is... Like the one on camskills website - here. I got it from RiceRocket but I think its the same.

Thanks for all the help, I got a solution anyway. Westbrook motors can have the parts ready for me this afternoon including the nut the hold on the pulley wheel. Their prices aren't too far off camskills for the pulley but their belt is twice the price. Then again the belt they have is a Mitsi OE belt where as camskill's one is from a third party supplier.
