'Lights left on' warning buzzer

Postby Baldrick » Sun Mar 08, 2009 7:52 pm

Hi,

I'm forever leaving my lights on as the warning buzzer doesn't work.

On checking this out on the forum I saw references to a reverse warning beeper, a ring light around the ignition and a warning buzzer if door is opened when key is in ignition. Are these all related i.e. on same circuit? None of these work for me.

I've checked all fuses in the box in the footwell and all are ok. Courtesy lights come on when door is opened so door switch seems to be ok.

Any ideas where to check next?

Thanks,

Paddy.

Buzzer is prob faulty, t is located at the back of the drivers footwwell fuse box. It is approx 75mm x 125mm black plastic box. wil take pic tomorrow.

Reverse warning is for tip only (not sure if yours is tip or manual)

Thanks for that. Mine is a GR 4 speed Tip (should have mentioned that).

Are these buzzers hard to get? What am I looking for i.e. tech. term?

Thanks again.

Can't find what you're talking about (with regard to the dimensions you specified). Removed a box, but when I googled the part number it indicated it was to do with folding the mirrors (and yeah... the mirrors no longer fold  )

When you say "located at the back of the drivers footwell fuse box", the only thing I see seems to be actually attached to the fuse box. Presuming this is part of the fuse box?

Thanks for your help so far... anything more will be much appreciated!

Yeah, they do (mentioned that in the OP). Thanks anyway

Tried PM to you regarding this some time ago. Not sure if you got it.

If you still have one available, I'm interested... sick of flat batteries after only two hours!

Thanks,

Paddy.

AFAIK the ring around the ignition should light up for a few seconds after you open the drivers door. If this doesnt happen its prob more likely the switch thats at fault (if the buzzer was the problem the ring would still light up).
You could test the switch by swapping the passenger side one (its unlikely both are faulty). My 2c

Have you tried just turning off your lights before you get out of the car? :!: :smt002
