Won't get to see the GPvR till monday or Tuesday now, have to head down the country. hopefully it'll still be around. Has this car been on Carzone for long?

Went to see the GPvR last night.

Was a bit disappointed, the entire body has been resprayed, there is a lot of overspray on the door trims. For example, the rubbers between the door handles and the door were painted over, and where the side skirts meet the body was painted badly as well.
There were a good few blemishes under the paintwork on the wings, and the hinge on the carbon bonnet was siting up higher than it should due to a small crack near the hinge. probably due to the bonnet being closed while something was under the bonnet. The spare wheel was missing, and the front suspension was clunky, although this would be sorted out before the NCT.

I really liked the Enkei wheels, the fact that it had an MP3 compatible CD player, the fact that it is a facelift model, and the rarity value of the GPvR. the exhaust sounded amazing, it was the first one I've driven that hasn't been overshadowed by induction roar. the HKS induction system is quiet enough at low revs, but still roars when the MIVEC cuts in.

I know this car is at a good price, and if the paintwork had been OK I would have bought it straight away, this isn't as clear cut as the green one I looked at last week, the body looks great till you look very closely. I don't know what to do!

If you're not convinced - don't do it..

If you think that the paint can be sorted for a bit of cash and you're willing to do it - do it..

you'll be able to pick up a spare for next to nothing on eBay if you really want one - steelroe might have a few knocking about even.

The bonnet is a different matter - you can probably get it repaired if you want - or you could sell it as needing work and get a standard bonnet.

There are ways - but are you willing to go there?

As my old mate says "If there is any doubt, there is no doubt"...
Don't buy it man... Over spray on the rubbers etc? nah... total turn off. I went to look at a few cars before I bought my GPvR and if it doesn;t make you fall in love immediately then its not the right one.

I bought my GPvR here. The guy is sound, and brings in the cars himself form japan. they are all spotless. Knows his stuff. Got a discount on my car too off the listed price. Looking at other cars for sale on carzone etc, mine was absolutely spotless. grade 4.5 anyway.
Here is another GPvR for sale.

He has a GPX too in red. Price might seem more than carzone, but if your anyway tempted go and look at the car. I'm talking clean. REAL clean.

I'm looking to spend 8 max. it's a second car, so I can't justify spending that much.

I'd like a GPX, not overly pushed on the GPvR over the GPX, both appeal for different reasons.

Rats, you took the wind out of my sails there! I've been looking at that 5500 quid GPX for the past week and I was planning on giving him a call. A dodgy respray job would turn me off big time though. Disappointing, it looks fantastic in the pictures.

Is the paintjob desperately bad or are you being extremely picky? Because if it looked good without too close an inspection I could probably stomach it for a few months and get the money together to have it resprayed myself.

Basically is it worth me going to have a look or do you reckon most people would be turned off by it?

I'd probably start worrying that the paintjob is covering up some rust or damage or something though.

wildhound i think you should see the car yourself if u r looking to buy one
that price is not that bad for a gpx

painting though is a big issue , a paint job beeing so expensive here .

go see the car , if u feel like u love it buy it. if not ? there are plenty of FTO''s around

Yeah you're right, I've nothing to lose. I'm gonna give him a ring.

Gave him a call, gonna go see it Friday, along with another one from Carzone that looks decent. :D

it's not me being picky, it's brutal, swirl marks, grit under the paint, overspray. you name it, it's there.

gonna look at a GPX tiptronic later this evening with a view to spending money on it.
