My FTO is up for sale!

Postby mark » Mon Mar 10, 2008 9:07 pm

Well I still can't believe it but I'm putting my baby up for sale. I've had it nearly 5 years now and it's been the best car I've ever owned.
So here goes;
1995 Black Mitsubishi FTO GR 2.0 V6 Manual.
http://picasaweb.google.com/MarkRussellHill/FTOForSale

146000kms/87k miles. I’ve owned and serviced this car since 56000 kms. 2 previous lady owners, one of which polished it once a week- seriously!
New Timing Belt, Water Pump, aux belts and tensioners done approx 6k kms ago.
4 new tyres SS595s with laser alignment.
17’Momo Fighter Alloys.
Lowered on Apex Springs.
Front and rear ARBs and Droplinks done.
New Battery just fitted.
Fuel Filter done.
New Alternator fitted about 3 years ago.
Denso Iridium plugs front and rear with Magnecor 8mm Ignition leads.
New front Strut Brace fitted about 2 weeks ago!
Pipercross Viper carbon fibre induction kit fitted with Pipercross Crankcase Breather filter. Old air box available.
Custom Stainless Steel (T4 grade) quad exhaust with de cat pipe fitted 6 months ago with lifetime warranty, nice sound with and without cat. Good Cat available and can be fitted if preferred.
New Lambda sensor and Engine Temp sensor just done.
Oil changes done every 5000 kms with fully syn oil.
Gear box oil changed.
Interior;
Standard very clean interior with 7’ touch screen DVD/TV/CD/Radio with USB and Card ports. Aluminium Dial Rings fitted.
Non smokers car. Original carpets. Alarm and Immobilsed.
1990cc on log book. I’ve spent over 4k on this last year and most of the work above was carried out in the last 6 months. Receipts available.
Taxed till end of June.
NCT’d till 11/09.
Price; 7.5k and I’m open to serious offers around this. A dealer has already offerd me this figure against a trade in. This is a very clean and much loved FTO that has never let me down.

This FTO was also used as a background car in the film, ‘A Tiger’s Tail’ with Brendan Gleeson and Kim Cattrall shot here in Dublin and driven by myself in the film.

Beautiful car, the shine off it in Wicklow a few weeks ago was amazing, even beside Bernard's (which is a very clean car) it looked amazingly shiny
The quads sound great, and the whole car is very tastefully done,

Best of luck with the sale Mark. What are you going to replace it with?

Another one...

In fairness it's an immaculate example, a real stunner.

Looking at those pictures, I'd say it'd sell even without a test drive.
Lovely stuff.

Thanks guys, yeah Colm I'm looking for an RX7. I probably won't be too long gone from the FTO fold. The FTO is a very practical car while something like a Rex is a whole different story not to mention reliability, running costs etc. It's really change for the sake of change and after 5 years of ownership I want to try something else.

Mark, thats one beautiful machine. My heart is broken cos secretly I want a change up my GS up to a 2l, and that is such a nice car, but I just don't have that money at the moment. Good luck with the sale, I'm sure it'll be hard to let it go.

Minter of an FTO. Minded like a baby.

Pity you missed out on CJs Rex - Mark.
The RX7 is gonna be a whole new planet of running costs.

Are Rex's costly to run? Love them cars, amazing the power a rotary engine puts out!

Yeah sorry I missed CJ's Shane, wasn't in the market for one back then. He probably planted the seed!
Martin, I don't want to guess running costs on a Rex, I will be getting one with a recent engine rebuild and thats saving me 3k plus!!!
My girlfriend much preferes the FTO over the RX7 and that's a small problem, not sure if she'll come around as the FTO is powerful enough for her and she much preferes the look. I'm inclined to agree.

Sounds like you're not sure about selling...

Would your girlfriend drive the FTO? At least you'd have access...

In an ideal world I'd happily hang on to it as its practical and reliable. You can get more in that boot than you think especially with my job and that's great. But I can't afford to keep two cars and I don't have the space. My girlfriend is in the same position as I am! I'm happy to hang on to it until I get a fair price but I do want to change up soon will I'm in crazy/silly mood!

Mark - I can't believe you're taking the plunge :-)

However ends up buying your FTO will have a minter on their hands that's for sure.

Here's hoping the right rex comes along :-)

Cheers lads, I looked at and drove 16 FTOs before I bought that one. I don't think I have the energy to that with the Rexs!
