Mirroring NCB

Some of the Irish Rotary guys have been able to mirror their NCB on more than one policy (Travellers was one company who were mentioned). I was under the impression that Irish insurance companies didn't offer this facility - what are other peoples experiences of mirroring NCBs?

I knew you could do it with bikes but being able to do it with cars is news to me...

Apparently Quinn will allow you use your NCB as named driver experience on a second policy (assuming they decide to insure the second car that is).

I'm with Directline, they wouldn't mirror my six years no claims on the fto to the micra

I heard of people getting 2 years no claims on a new policy if they already had another policy with the insurance company or broker but not mirroring.

Think I'd try to avoid having 2 policies with one company unless it was a lot cheaper that way - have a claim with one of the 2 and you're going to get screwed with both policies. Theoretically shouldn't happen but you know irish insurance companies!

John, was it full NCB mirroring or named driver transfer i.e. you have 5 years NCB, you're offered 5 years named driver experience on the second car policy?

As far as i can remember it was full NCB just not 100% so will try check it out for you

Curiosity more than anything. We used to pay a small fortune on insuring 3 cars at one point (Colt, FTO, RX-7) , this was the basis for me getting rid of the RX-7. If theres scope to reduce premia by mirroring NCBs than I'm all for it.

If you're speaking to your respective brokers or insurance companies, ask them if they offer this facility. Anything that helps to reduce the cost of insurance is positive.
