Subaru WRX

Postby soc » Thu Jun 05, 2003 11:51 am

I just got some insurace quotes - to change from the GS to a manual GPX would cost nothing extra (althouh 3K is still expensive) but even better - to change to a 1998 Subaru WRX or a 1996 Mitsu Lancer Evo IV would only cost an extra 250. If I sell the GS and can't find a nice manual GPX then I'm gonna start looking at scooby's and lancer's.

If you're gonna get a Scooby, get an STI model, bags more BHP than a WRX. That said, there are much less EVOs on the road so you are gonna get noticed. The downside to both cars is they don't come near the FTO for looks.

Who did you get the quotes off BTW, QD I assume?

Shane,
The place beside the coachman at the airport roundabout have 2 EVOs a IV and a V I think. Look well.
Forget the name but they are practically in the gorund of the coachmans between it and the Ulster Bank. Auto Terminal I think it's called.

Is this the place you are talking about,

http://www.autoterminal.ie

No sign of the Evo's on their site though. They are connected to the www.carzone.ie site.

I went out in a lovely blue irish WRX yesterday - up at deerpark motors (really nice crowd there). It was a 1998 with full Subaru service history. I made up my mind this morning I was gonna buy it - got on to them and the fecker was sold this morning - I'm not suprised considering it was only priced at EUR14750.

It's not often you'll come accross a WRX for that kind of money with full main dealer service history.

That's wierd cause they have them on their website and when I rang them they quoted me no problem. I think there's something really funny going on with QD.....

Anyone know if the rumours about them not quoting for FTO's is true? They still list the FTO on their website!

Yeah I don't know what the story is there. As long as its still on the website its fine. Once it disappears then I'd be a bit worried.

Anyway saw a lovely blue Evo in Dun Laoghaire on Sat. Didn't see the reg but looked relatovely new.

Top Gear last night did a comparison between the Evo and Scooby. Evo came out really well. But both presenters preferred the Scooby. No real reason just a personal preference. Both got a good review though.

Funny as a rerun of 5th geat on discovery was doing the same and Tiff Needelll more or less said the same.
