Ok Guys I need your help,

I have bought a 1999 FTO GR, at the moment it is in the body shop getting a new Veil-side body kit fitted and a carbon fibre console. It is then off to the sound shop to get fitted a custom built twin box with two 10" Sony subs, two 400watt Kenwood rear speakers, two 180watt Clarion front speakers, a 2000watt amp and a JVC head unit. Back to the garage for a full overhaul, service and a powertec induction kit and finally to the wheel shop getting new 17" titanium alloys and tyres. Ok so the qustion is do I need an exhaust system to compliment the induction kit and what other modifications should I consider. The hang ups I have is I do not want to go bigger than 17" alloys and I do not want to lower the car, I believe re-mapping the car is not advisable and can be expensive. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated guys.

Cheers,
Tony.

how much are u looking to spend?

new bodykit , wheels , sound would probably cost u a couple of times more that what you spend buying that 99 GR .

Good call not going larger than 17s, but can I ask why you don't want to lower it? Its one of the best mods you can do to an FTO.
I've got to say though that I think the standard facelift front bumper is nicer than the veilside, but thats my opinion.
If going with an exhaust theres tons of options, such as the blueflame quads, or check out exhausts on camskill. Also decat it, makes a big difference, (though I'm still looking for a decat for mine, no one seems to have any second hand ones for sale!)
Plus as Seb said, you're looking at major bucks there with all that work. Don't know what you're budget is but just to prepare you in case you're not expecting a large bill.

Cheers Guy's,

Thanks for your help I have just bought a new full exhaust system with de-cat, you are right I am spending more on the car than I paid for it but that's all part of the fun :D Although I said I was not going to lower the car I am having second thoughts about that now too.

Cheers Again Guys.........

.They continued to sell the gr even after the facelift.

You'll see a good few gr 97, 98 and 99 in crap colours.

Is it not a simply a case of a load of them being made with prefacelift bumper...but not being registered till after 97..

similar to when there's a change over in golf models these days.. They dont scrap the old ones but sell them side by side with the newer versions till they run out..

Welcome to the club,

Lowering is one of the best mods you can do to an FTO or any Mitsubishi for that matter, improved handling and better looks its a win win,

i only bought my first FTO a few months back and my first mod is a set of Tein S Tech Lowering springs from Camskill, waiting on them now :D

lookin forward to seeing pics of your motor mate

I'd say the vast majority use apex . And their good for their price.
I think someone just sold a set for €50 which were hardly used

A vast majority of FTO owners use APEX which are fairly priced.
If you want to be different have a search for Tein or DCuatro kits.

It depends how much your looking to spend, go onto Camskill, they have

1. Eibach
2. Tein S Tech
3. Apex (as mentioned on here)

I went for the Teins, as I've had them on 2 cars before. They're bullet proof and and give a nice drop, 49mm on the front and 45mm on the back.

I received mine by courier this morning, so i'll stick up a thread of the car before fitment and after to give you an idea of the difference.

Oh and price guide I paid 200euro for the Teins including Postage, but you can get cheaper!

Cheers guy's I appreciate all the feedback,

Ok more advice please, I told my mechanic this evening that the bodykit was on the way in and he literally gave out to me (He is a personal friend.) he said the car is as straight an FTO he has seen in a long while with only 74000Km on the clock. It is still original body and chassis wise and that I should not molest the car by putting a body kit on it whay do you guys think. Your opinion does count.

Cheers Tony.
