hi all - just thought I'd join up and say a quick hello, I live in England but I don't suppose that matters (somebody has to) currently enjoying my second FTO, my first was a my95 silver tip that was written off by the donger that bought it, now on a my95 black manual GR, totally stock but with a few of my own "toys" added like:

DEI VIPER5000 2 way pager total closure alarm (including mirrors)
150db pain generator in cabin
big red start button
door handle LED's
remote operation of headlights from alarm fob
HID kit with matching sidelight LED's
alpine cda-9857r headunit
directed electronic components in front
alpine flex5 amp
home made "stealth" subwoofer with JBL10 inch sub
electro luminescent white dials

all DIY as I used to be an alarm installer and know a bit about 12v, next up is a boot popper and I'm toying with the idea of disabling the door handles and putting TVR style "door popper buttons" in the mirror housings with the ability to control them from the alarm fob. Also, decat pipe is going on this weekend.

I just love gadgets!

absolutely right - a pain generator is a small siren hidden under the dash, the one I have puts out 150db. The alarm also has "VRS" (Vehicle Recovery System) which is the same as Clifford blackjax (the parent company of all clifford/viper/hornet/avital etc is Directed Electronics) and works the same way, if someone opens the door while i'm driving and forces me out a timer starts to countdown when the door is closed again - after 30 seconds the alarm turns on all the sirens and the horn and the hazards start flashing, this is where the pain generator comes in as the idea is to make the immediate environment as uncomfortable as possible. After another 15 seconds the immobilisers kick in and cut the engine and all electrics. The engine cannot be restarted and the sirens cannot be silenced even with the alarm fob unless you know the pin code. I'm thinking about putting the doors on lock with deadlocks after the first 30 seconds, so any potential hijacker would not be able to exit the car and would be stuck in the cabin with the 150db going off until the police arrive - if I remember to call them .............

Its fairly straightforward - make sure you scour the surface first - and i wouldn't recommend a laquer as its easier to touch up just the base colour.

VERY rough guide -

Sand/Scour:

Mask off the tyre:

Spray using about 3 tins over the course of the 4 wheels of your colour of choice:
