Goodbye

Ok guys I think its about time I say goodbye.
I recon im too young for a social network such as "FTO-IRELAND" as im more looking for an owners club for people who may be able to help with any advances in FTO's or technical help with any issues, something which is greatly needed here.
Maybe its the young blood on me and the fact so many members are alot older and have more important things to be doing with their time like getting their prostate checked.

So I wish to bid my final fairwell and thanks to Colm, Sebasian & Rory for your help over the past year and a half.
Remember it was "FTO-ireland" that convinced me to get a FTO in the first place as the members were at the time the friendliest bunch I had ever met.

My final request is that all my Posts bar this are deleted.

All the best,
Dan

Resisting, resisting resisting... Oh what the hell... :smt098

Maybe you should notice that no-one else seems to have a problem with the site, or thinks it has changed. Given that, maybe its time you took a look in the mirror? You should be aware that you're not the only one who knows about the the UK site (see, we do know something about FTO's), and I've noticed you've managed (perhaps unintentionally) to also rub them up the wrong way more than once, so that might be a clue has to who has an attitude problem (HINT- have a look at the common denominator).

As far as I can see your main contribution to the site is trying to make a quick buck at any opportunity, and being a serial "no-show" at meets, oh wait, thats not a contribution. Actually, you have contributed some entertainment when you throw your rattle out of the pram everytime you don't get the respect/adoration you seem to crave.
Despite the fact your white turbo has never made an appearance, the amount of support you've gotten in the (numerous) threads is unreal, and yet someone has upset you slightly, and you're like a baby.. "oh why don't you love me, I'm off to see if I can get more attention over here...". Oh wait, is this what you mean by being young? I think the word is childish!

My apologises to anyone else who sees this as a rant, this is not normally my nature, but I've never seen comments on this site as offensive and uncalled for as those written by Dan. So this is my fair well to you Dan, and my parting words... grow up!

Oh here we go again!
All I'll say is that just cause we don't all like ripping the crap out of our engines, (and bear in mind that this turbo project was 'almost completed' about 7 months ago, prob longer actually), it doesn't mean we don't love our cars or cars in general, if I want more hp I'll buy a bigger engine car, not spend a fortune doing something which may or may not work. Simple as! But I still love the FTO for what it is, and what it is, is a 2L N/A Mi-Vec V6 sports car, not a boy-racer machine.
And I agree with Tom, there has been more comments of support, and general queries regarding the turbo project than a lot of other projects. True there was a few comments made but after all the hype and non appearance and lack of anything to show its no wonder people got bored of it, cant keep the same interest for well over a year when theres no milestones to gauge when its actually going to be ready and we get to see it. Christ the Burj-Al-Dubai was built quicker than this bloody turbo engine and thats a building thats almost a km high! Also I would like to add I'm not saying people shouldnt put bigger engines or whatever in their cars, cause I know ftorex and some others are doing it, but they're not coming on every day telling us its 'nearly ready'.
Cant wait to hear what Optical Illusion has to say on this!! :D

A bit extreme in my opinion but good luck Dan, hopefully you do eventually get the FTO Turbo up and running, might even see you on the road as my sis lives in edenderry and I am down that way a fair bit.
As I said it wasn't my intention when I replied to your post that it would lead to you leaving the site. I was just confused as to the point of your post. With very little information about the cars pictured, no comments being made, no opinions given or asked for or questions being asked I couldn't see where the post was headed. If you had included a little comment like, "While researching the conversion I came across these, I like the bonnet on the red one. What do you guys think of them?" it would have given the reader an idea as to why you posted. After reading your post I didn't know whether I was expected to comment on it.

I dont think its a question of age, people of all ages can be interested in modifing cars. I myself have gotten more interested in cars the older I got, and have learnt quite a fair bit in the last 3/4 years. I'm 27 btw and in my teens and early 20's had very little interest in cars other than driving them.
But with comments like;

Your not doing yourself any favours and people would be more inclined to think its not a bad thing your leaving the site. Taking a parting shot at the members here just illustrates a lack of maturity, as does your leaving the site which is reminisent of a child throwing a tantrum because they dont get there own way, or receive enough attention.

"CONTINUED"
Not everyone on here was been negative towards you in anyway so tar-ing us all as a bunch of old fogies that are too old to understand your enthusiasm in relation to your project is a bit silly.
What I dont understand is that as you made evident in previous posts you felt a negativity towards you from members here yet you continued to post in a manor that left you open for misinterpertation (it is easy to misinterperate someones meaning when reading a post. I have done it in the past [most recently to bernard] and people have not taken my posts they way they were intended). As I pointed out the reason for your post was unclear and left it to the reader to come up with there own conclusion as to its purpose, in this case another attempt for you to remind everyone you have 2 turbo'd FTO's. Which to be fair is kinda the impression many of your posts gave.
This is probably the reason you received/felt a negativity towards you. In general nobody likes people who constantly brag about themselves, their posessions, jobs, money etc. so it should be of no surprise if people dont take too kindly to what they perceive to be your constant bragging about your cars especially as one is not road worthy (the blue one) and afaik the other isn't up and running yet (the white one).
There were only 2 things I would take exception to with things you've done and that was in relation to meets, organising a meet and then not turning up and being a consistant no show to meets you have said you'd be at. The other was your project f lights, you posted saying you'd be happy with €250 and a set of oem rear lights and I replied saying I'd take you up on that offer, you declined saying the bidding had gone higher. I can understand you wanting to get as much as you could for them but dont post offering a deal you'd be happy with only to turn it down when someone offers what your looking for.

Fairwell Dan, At first I thought some members of the site were a little rough on you but I quickly realised why. Your immaturity and outlandish claims coupled with your inability to take constructive critiscism, not a good recipe for a public forum. Hope you find what your looking for at FTOOC. :smt006

I know I am not a regular poster here since I sold the FTO and I have alot of other stuff on.... but I had to comment on this. What the f**k is that request about?? Serious, why would a sane person even consider something like this? It's almost funny...

I reckon curiosity will get the better of him, He'll probably come on as a guest and have a snoop to see peoples reaction to his departure. I give it a couple of months before he alienates himself on FTOOC, he's already blotted his copybook there in the past.

I think the phrase "think before you speak (or type)" is what comes to mind here. Just because you read up on how a space shuttle works does not automatically make you an Astranout

While I commend Dan on taking on the turbo project, in my experience it would prove a bit much for a guy that does not even know where the brake fluid reservoir was on his car.
Looks like it is still giving trouble

Looks like that thread has been deleted. Just goes to show that Dan is still visiting the site (under a new log-on).
Should be clear from the IP address of a recent new log-on.
