I got very confused over the past few days. I think it was the whole Christmas-back to work-not paid until February thing but I really needed to get tyres fr the FTO. The tracking was gone on the front offside and the tyre was totally bald on the inside and still wearing, so I made a few calls and got a price of €140 each for Goodyear Eagle F1 GD3s for Dave McCanns. I also needed to get the alignment done. DTAS had quoted €150.
My wife offered to take the car over to get the tyres etc and because of the discount tyres thread here, I gave her the directions to DTAS. She got there and they were very nice and pointed her in the right direction to find Dave McCanns.
Dave was very helpful, fitted the tyres and started on the alignment - it was all over the place and he managed to get 3 of the wheels right but thought that there might be something bent on the bad wheel. He rang me, talked me through what he had done and set the wheel as best he could (it's still about a degree out) but warned me to get it fixed ASAP as the tyre would wear. He also said that he would do the wheel for free when I got the problem fixed andf if Paul needed to test stuff to find out what was wrong he would throw it up on the jig and take a look.
All in all it was a great price on the tyres and excellent service. The car drives like new and is way better than it was - even with the front wheel still off. I'm almost looking forward to rain to see how it handles.
CJ. Thanks for all your work on getting the discount with DTAS but when I realised the extent of the wear on the front tyre, it was a distress purchase and Dave gave a good price and sorted me out.
