In light of the fall of prices of FTO's

I was wondering what would i get if i sold on my FTO (when the turbo was completed and running well)

its a
97 OY REG
GPX with Turbo conversion.
Shes lining up to be the most powerfull 6a12 on any of the forums between Ireland and England.

Iv over 8 grands worth of recipts from since I got the car in March 08
and practically every reciept of service or work done including the equivelent of NCT's in Japan.

So what ye recon? how much would ye pay?

I don't think you'd get the money back you've spent Dan.

These days car's with a bit of oomph aren't good investments from a financial point of view.

why do you think to sell dan ?

i'd say finish the car first .. get some figures on the track /drag /RR and then you'll have more credibility amongst the petrol heads

see ftooc uk forums and pistonheads with those turboed fto's that cost a few bobs and .. dont sell .

I spent even more on my FTO - maybe got a grand or two more than a standard one when it came to sale time. In the present market its not likely you'd even get that.

What price would you expect to sell at?

Iv shown this a few times on the site.

:?: Makes this post even less credible than before.

I'm certain that you went into this project for the love of the car, and to have the best of the breed. Making a profit (or not losing shed loads of money) wasn't on the agenda,
I do think, however, that you want people to know how much this project has cost you.

Personally what will impress me is the quarter mile/lap times the car can do after the project, and not how much money was poured into it - in fact the more money that's spent on these conversions, the less impressive they become (when you compare the finished product with alternative cars for the same money)

Its funny how off topic you guys go....

really bad when its also moderatators that are helping with it too.

NOT "how impressed" are you by how much work iv done,
NOT "how much do you think iv spent"
NOT "do you agree with the way i dont devulge what money i spend openly on the forum"
NOT "who has actually PM'd me like i said if they wanted to know how much something costs, or how to do one thing or another"

There was a simple question asked and that was "How much would you pay for the car"

Now Now Dan..

When you ask ..

So What ye recon?

It does leave the question open to interpretaion..

Personally the most I'd pay for an FTO these days is 7k.. and at 7k I'd expect ALOT for the money..

If you want a straight answer on that, I'd have to say about €50.

I'm not trying to slag you off here, I just want to point out this is a massively subjective thing.

This is a project car designed very much for YOU. And there's nothing wrong with that. You know exactly what has gone into the car, how its put together, and any potential weaknesses it has. I know you're designing it to be "reliable", but something, someday will go wrong, and for anyone else who took the car off you, that could be a massive pain, and most garages won't want to look at it.

If I won the lotto tomorrow, I'd love to get a second FTO and modify the $hit out of it. But I want to do it myself, a process I'd enjoy and would make my car unique. I think thats part of the reason you take on a project like this, and I'm sure thats why you're doing it. BUT... what I'd end up with would be priceless to me, but probably worthless to someone else.

Anyway, this is probably why you're not getting the feedback you expect/wanted.

And sorry to finish up OT, but I think some people would consider that last bit about "NOT this... NOT that & NOT the other" as being a touch hormonal???

Dan, with all due respect.
You post threads like this one bragging that you've spent over 8K or like this one, then you b!tch if we ask how much something cost.

You've also posted often enough on how this site p!sses you off, complained about members and mods... not to mention called us a few names; then you ask for favours:

You can't have it both ways

Actually thats the sort of answer i was looking for,

And with your last bit I do agree that its flying off the handle so to say but its the whole case that so many threads here are going so far off topic.

I disagree. We encourage people to stay on topic where possible. This rule does not apply when posting in the 'Off Topic' forum i.e. here.

Dan, unless we see a full spec list and dyno reports, its difficult to put a price on your car. Top level guesstimate - 8k.

Im with Tom on ths one. I admire the balls you've shown to do this Dan, i seriously do, But it would be fairly worthless to me personally. If I wanted a faster car I would buy a car that was intended to be like that. And your paintwork the way it is, it leaves me, personally, thinking around 5k. (But even for that I still wouldnt buy it) Theres ppl out there who'd love it, just not me. I hope your doing this for yourself tho, cause you'll never see your cash back...

I have being reading Dans threads and different topics and just being watching whats being going on and I think there are a few site memebrs on this forum that I think quite frankly are rude, petty and childish.

You like to take the pi$$ out of Dan a lot and pick on him and I think this quite sad that grown men are carrying on like this and especillay moderators.

Dan at the start was very enthuastic about the site but peple just started to take the Pi$$ out of him which I think is so mean and Im not surprised Dan is pi$$ed off with the site and certain people on it.

There seems to be a little click on this forum and you cant say bad to one but you have everyone on your case.

Dan if I were you I wouldnt bother posting anymore on this forum cause you'll never be accepted as your not part of the little click they'll always be smart with you and pick on you. Just do what your doing on your car and make it the fastested in Ireland and the UK.

Thats a bit harsh I think!!!
We're all waiting to see Dan's project, I for one can say I've never said anything negative about it and always looked forward to seeing it, I hate replying to negative comments cause i rather the thread just be left fall away cause i think negative threads and bickering is petty, but this is the type of comment that will bring more bickering on and more insulting or bad comments.
I've been looking forward to dans project since he started it and i think its a very risky yet well worth it exercise that hes doing.
And who exactly is the 'little click' you refer to?? Is it people that come on and post every day like I do? Is that what makes a 'click'? A regular poster??
Another thing, I think coming on the forum and stirring sh1t is 'quite frankly rude, petty and childish'.

Especially from a person who has only posted 17 times in 3 years.

I have always found this an extremely open and well run site.
Not sure what this "click" is you mention.
Yes there are a number of members who have become very good friends through this site.

I think this post should just die a death as it had no real purpose to begin with.

Absolute bullsh1t !

You've never been at an FTO Ireland meet - you've posted 17 times and you feel there is a "click" on the forum? I presume by click you are just referring to regular posters that do attend meets and actually know each other as opposed to a random poster that posts 17 times in 3 years?

If this is the case then as a regular poster I must be part of this "click" - I have over 4000 posts on here (many of them in response to Dans posts) - please point to one of my posts that has been insulting towards Dan?

The word is 'clique'. I can't ever remember a meeting stating 'Regular posters ONLY' or 'Known members need only turn up' You're one to talk when you probably have never met any of us face to face yet are willing to judge us as being 'cliquey'.
Get a grip ffs.

Dan, most of the time it's brought on by yourself by taking everything personally or overreacting. Most mature people won't tolerate childish behaviour and will react accordingly. Mickthespahead wasn't entertained by any of us, but he brought it on himself anyway, so I have no sympathy whatsoever.
