Hi guys and gals,
Sorry, I had a long reply typed up but lost it somehow, so here are some bullet points If ye could offer some FTO wisdom I'd much appreciate it. I'm trying to narrow down why she's running rich.
- Running temperature. Dash gauge heats up to half way-ish and never moves again. Even with the fan on it just shows half way. Are there seperate temp senders for dash and ecu or just the one. I'm thinking possibly the ecu isn't getting the right info and running rich on a cold startup map? Just wondering if the temp gauge thing is normal. Temp sender I see on camskill is cheap enough, can't hurt to change it out I guess.
- MAP sensor. Is there anyway or testing this? Shall I just unplug it and see what happens? Pricey bloody things by the looks of it, anyone know a cheaper alternative supply?
- TPS. I've spotted another thread here on this. Can I just measure the resistance across it at different throttle openings? These are also shockin' expensive (I got one for a fiver for the elise! ), once again, any cheaper alternatives found?
- Any other ideas of what it could be? I haven't looked too closely yet but I don't think there are any exhaust leaks between cat and engine. I will check more thoroughly though. Also, vaccuum leaks in and around the engine, any spots that regularly give trouble?
I reckon the cat is goosed at this stage if it's been running that rich for any length of time anyway. So cheap cat and lambda might as well be ordered. I'm just wondering if there's any way a fella with a multimeter can check the other few sensors to see what's going on.
Thanks for ye're help,
Derek
