Tyre life?

Postby kevinod » Thu Aug 21, 2008 11:55 am

Hi guys,

how many KM/miles would you expect to get out of a decent set of tyres?

Goodyear F1s, BF Goodrich, Pirelli's etc?

My front tyres need to be replaced, but I don't seem to have got as many km as I was expecting.

On the FTO my Bridgestone potenza RE050's lasted about 20,000KM.(215/45 17's)
However on the Zed they barely lasted 1/2 of that. (rear 275/40 18's & front 245/40 18's).

I guess a lot is down to how you drive your FTO. I would say you should get around 20K KMs out of a set of high performance tyres (Y,W,ZR rated) and perhaps 30K kms out of a set of harder compound V rated tyres such as the Bridgestone RE720's,Pirelli P7000's, Federals etc.
