1997 GP version R

Hi Guys,

Im new here. Im thinking about buying a facelift manual GP version R. Im juat wondering are there any actually in the country and how much would they cost? Are we talking big money here?

I think they are by far the best looking FTO with that rear wing and the front lip, not to mention the blue recaros.

Has anyone had a spin in one? Im curious as I hear they're a good few kilos lighter with upgraded suspention.

It was built to directly compete with the Honda Integrs type R, but is it as fast?

No there are very few GPvR's in this country i've personally seen one and don't know of any other, and yes you'll be talking big money but it will be overpriced inflated prices, if you want one here your best of inporting direct and saving several grand.

Ther rear wing and be bought cheep enough and all fto seats are the same just diferent cloth. and the blue ones are only in the white GPvR there red in the black one and black in the blue one IIRC

Yes i have driven one, i didn't really find it that much quicker than a GPX but it did handle better, and the lighting was much better.

It is just tiny bit slower than a teg-R but handels a bit better.

Thanks for the advice man. I had a feeling I wouldent get one over here as they are pretty rare. espically for a Manual Facelift.

I think I might talk to neweraimports about importing one. Dont fancy waiting 6 weeks though!

6 weeks try 6 months hehe some on here are waiting that long to get theirs, it isn't newera their going thru but all importers are having trouble of late, there was no cars out of japan for 4 months, some dock strike or something

Don't get me started!!! Paid 50% deposit on 27th Feb, and they had bought the car by a week later. Its due to arrive on 13/14th Aug now.

Story I got was that there are a lot more new Jap cars being sold at the moment so the ships are full of new cars instead of old cars. At least early in the year anyway, around now could well be better.

Not sure you'll save much if anything by importing, unless its a rare model someone is charging a premium for. By the time I've imported (customs, vat, vrt) and paid for a year's tax I'm not saving much, assuming there's nothing wrong with the car when it does arrive of course... That and the wait of 5 1/2 months to actually get the car!!

Another 2 weeks though and I should be spotted around Cork spinning around!
