paint removel help needed

Postby mnmmurphy » Mon Feb 09, 2009 4:19 pm

i backed slowly into a stupid barrier protecting a tree in the middle of a tesco car park and it removed a small area of paint.the size of the area removed is about 1/4 inch by two inches.the body is not dented. if i got paint in the spray cans to match my own paint would i be able to respray over the area or would it peel.if i could spray it how would i match the two colours and what preperation would i have to do. :D

I wouldn't recommend spraying it yourself. I tried doing it on my old punto and made a complete pigs ear of it. Try a local spray painter, it wont cost that much for such a small area. You'll never get the same finish as a professional and it wont look right.

Ask www.carcraft.ie for a quote, it might end up cheaper (although not much) depending on the size of the area that needs to be worked on.

Alternatively, buy some touch up paint and do it on the cheap:

look under the bonet and a colour code should be on a plate, mine is located to the back left of the engine as you look at it.
Not sure on how many shades of black there are. Where are you located?

Call Mike and ask him to send by standard post as opposed to courier. You'll struggle to find X08 off the shelf, you'll have to have it mixed or get Mitsi to order direct form Japan.
