Braided brake line experiences

I'm interested to hear from anyone whos fitted braided lines to their FTO - did you find a noticable difference in:

Pedal travel
Pedal feel
Improved braking disatances

etc

Any negative effects? (I've heard of the braid seperating from the crimp on cheaper hoses)

iv had braided hoses in the fto's
reuces squese on the pedal i find.

depending on the size they can come away from the bracket on the shocks

I've braided on mine. The main difference I found was a bit better bite in braking. Have them on a while so don't remember much about pedal travel/feel. I think there was a small difference on the pedal but not much. Definately worth putting on though. The Goodridge set that is being sold by Camskill & Ricerocket seems to be good quality.

Goodridge are high quality had them on a few cars, you won't really notice a major difference day to day but firmer pedal ,better overall feel when it counts most noticeable under heavy brakeing conditions, when conventional hoses are more likely to bulge especially if they 10 plus years old as is the case with many FTO's. cheapest Goodridge hoses for FTO can be got from FTOOC they are stainless variety, this is where I sourced mine

I think there was a small difference on the pedal but not much

I remember the same thing from when I had a set installed on the GS 7 years ago - slightly better pedal feel but thats it.

Ive been thinking about putting Goodridge braided hoses on my FTO the past while. They asually have them on ebay and I think they're about £55. One of my friends has them on his Impreza and he thinks they are well worth while doing.

I got Goodridge braided hose and tried to fit them yesterday. Only got the front ones done. I couldn't get the nut open on the back passenger side. It just wouldn't crack. I tried all the usual tricks but just no give in it Even with only the 2 front hoses done it seems to have made a bit of difference. A little more bite in the brakes.

Any suggestions on how to get nut on the top of the brake line open? (Well whats left of it). I soaked it with WD40 for ages and got at it with a vice-grips. This was after trying it with a spanner and eventually the nut lost its shape.

I'd suggest giving it a good soaking with WD40 and leaving it for a day or 2 to penetrate, give it a second go then. As you've rounded the nut, you'll have to get a good grip on it with the vicegrips to loosen it. Heating the nut is out obviously...

I tried that this morning CJ. I left it soaking in WD40 over night. Was at it for nearly a hour this morning. Just no give in it. It's completely seized. I Might take it to a garage. I'm sure they have their ways of sorting things like this.

where did you source the hoses from?

you could try driving along with the handbrake on to get some heat into the rear calipers, but youd need to be pretty quick to get workin at it before it cools down again. Maybe you should ask Dan for assistance as he seems to be super human quick when workin at the car
