Scary stuff indeed, I've been in Dell since I was 18.
The missus works there too
All we can do is wait and see, there's meant to be an announcement in January.

The writing's been on the wall for a while though...

Serious stuff, the local economy relies hugely on Dell. Bernard, I hope the outcome works in your favour...

Cheers CJ.
The thing that gets me about companies like these is they're still making money.
If they were losing money you'd understand but as soon as revenue drops slightly from the previous year it's panic stations.

No thought is spared for the people that got them their billions, a sign of the times I suppose.

Yep, you'd imagine relocating a factory like that to Eastern Europe or whatever would be a major hassle for them. My heart goes out to anyone working in Limerick at the moment.

Well €50 million in grants from the polish government and the fact that we trained the workers in helped I'm sure.

Hopefully they'll see a bit of sense and ensure that full time and long term staff and workers get to at least have an offer of remaining.
Not a good time to be breaking news like that to people but hopefully it'll work out.

There's an all staff meeting tomorrow morning at 9, hopefully we'll know where we stand then.

Finally and end to the speculation from the media and the internal waffle

Worst fears realised, 1900 jobs to go by April 2010 - harsh outcome.

Bernard, I can only assume you're affected?

1900 jobs, mine is one of them.
The redundancies will be staggered until the end of the year.

We're having meetings during the day to find out the how and when.

Ah well, there's more important things to worry about
