He did some suspension work and small bits before the NCT, that cost money, but yes I spotted the lower price earlier in the day!

Even with all the mods I'm gonna do to it, It'll still be a relatively cheap car.

Picked up the car this evening and took it for a good drive. It handles so well, I'm addicted to the MIVEC roar and despite what some people say about tiptronics, this thing can move!
The exhaust is maybe a bit too loud for my liking, I'll just have to see what I think in a weeks time. All in all, I can't believe I got so much for so little.
Ordered a DVD headunit on Ebay last night, hopefully get it installed by next weekend, when I'm heading down to clare. Gonna get the few marks on the bumpers tidied up this week too.

You got a bargain all right, he must really have been in a hurry to sell.

I went to see a GTO in Carlow yesterday that was the same kind of deal. The guy was looking for 3500 because he was in such a hurry to sell, but it was worth at least 5k.

I still love that colour. :o

It's the same shade as ford used in the old Fiesta, parked beside one yesterday and I reckon it's exactly the same.

Custom & Performance show in Limerick racecourse in September - it'll be a good one - we had a really good turnout of FTO's last year.

First mods!

Postby colm_mcm » Fri Jul 27, 2007 10:03 pm

Started work on the FTO today, installed my new DVD/CD thingy,

Image

Got an Audioleads DIN slot fill-in-the-gap box, which worked brilliantly, there are 4 adaptors to exactly fit the gap left after fitting a single DIN stereo.

Everything seems to work grand, apart from the speakers, which I haven't wired in yet, Got a pair of 6.5" Alpine speakers, which out of the selection Halfords had-seemed to sound the best.
I love the way the headunit fits in with the dash, it matches up with the climate control very well, Am going to fit a blue LED (if possible) to the temperature control knob to match the two items up at night.

Pictures to follow!

Very nice - screen is a bit small though - but I like it..

I'm running a 6.5" screen (double din) myself and it's handy for when sitting in traffic..It's also great that I dont need to have a carfull of cds with me on longer trips - 1 dvd loaded with mp3s and DivX will do me for a month before I get fed up..

I didn't go for a large motorised screen because I don't like the way they wobble while driving. also going to be fitting bigger monitors in the sun visors. one step at a time!

A lot of the DIN sized hadunits have smaller screens than 4". this was the biggest single DIN sized screen I saw. mainly got it cos it matches the interior so well.

Yeah it looks deadly.

I'd recommend the LM/Innovatek line for having non-wobbly screens..but you're right recently a friend got a larger screen and it is wobbling about whilst driving..I told him to make sure he'd fixed it correctly :-)

I originally bought sunvisor screens (complete units) but they were too long to fit..Luckily I was able to flog them for full price to a dude with a corsa..if you're not intending to use the original sunvisors as a base - make sure to measure the distance between the mounting points before forking out your monies...
