Possibly a GSR box would be compatible. Not sure of ratios etc

Nope - GSR has a 5 speed box.

Was thinking that alright. Only relatively new EVO's etc would have 6 speed trannys me thinks

in terms of the 4wd cars would the output shafts not match?

I rang that mr gearbox crowd and one lad there seemed to know his fto's and even my goals.

So he said he can't tell me anything untill he opens the box and has a look.

He's going to charge to take out the box and open it up its not a fortune at 150 euro, and I'm looking at it more as a consultancy fee

yip the down side of this is crusing at about 60 mph in 5th will mean I'll have to sit at around 4000 rpm

For the amount of times you would prob sprint the car I would consider it of very little value.
