MERLIN CAR AUCTIONS

Anyone ever dealt with the above company. They are in ASHBOURNE and if the auction room is anything to go by they look impressive. The auction off JAP imports on a weekly basis. Are the vehicles they sell already VRT cleared.

I remember Speedyboy saying he has dealt with Merlin before. AFAIK, VRT has to be paid afterwards.

Yeah we bought a couple of cars off them before when they were in tallaght, The Auction room has changed now from the TV screens they actually drive the cars in again.

The prices are very reasonable as its 90% trade customers, I have a snapshot of the prices cars went for during a 3 month period if you want info on a particular model?

You need to be careful of what your bidding on though things go through the auction very quickly,

I notice there getting back into the Jap performance models seen a couple of EVO's and ITR's in the auction catalouge recently

I believe this to be the case also. They also provide an estimation of VRT (on their snapshot at least), so I would expect that they also provide this estimate before the vehicle goes under the hammer. Maybe Speedyboy can confirm?

Yeah the car is auctioned with no VRT paid and there is an estimate in the auction catalouge (the estimate is €100 more than you will actuall pay)

Ill look up the prices FTO's went for when I get home,

You need to get a good look at the cars before you bit because sometimes a car looks like its going for a great price and you would be temped to bid on it even though you haven't seen it up close properly.

Normally when they are going very cheap its for a reason and the dealers are as cute and they know the good cars!!

They tell you that you can view the cars from 2-5 on tuesdays and before 10 on the day of the auction but when we went there, the auction didn't start till nearly 11.30 and everyone was out looking at the cars all the time, even during the auction. You get a good chance to hear the cars running before they go through if you wait outside while they are coming in.
