errr, I think those Momos really suit it plus there's 4 new tyres, they're pretty rare(alloys). What are you looking at swopping just out of curiosity!

She's SOLD :smt022
I'm numb at the moment but will post later. Went to a very nice girl from Cork who will look after it and her boyfriend has an RX7 so all good, couldn't have gone to a better home. She's knows about FTO Ireland so the car will probably turn up at a few meets in the future, while i'll be in a 1.6 Honda for a while :(

Cheers man, yeah it was tough. Just hope I don't wake up tomorrow and want it back! My girlfriend was in tears when I got home! Well CJs probably won't stray too far from the scene and mine may end up back on the scene so be warned!
I'm waiting for a nice RX7 to come along but that could be 6 months plus from now. The FTO was my daily driver while an RX7 wouldn't be, so I have to do a lot of thinking, any suggestions?!

Yes lads that was predictable :smt015 . I do see myself going back to the FTO someday, maybe in a few years but for the moment being I wanna try something else. Just not many cars out there to rival the FTO package; looks, performance, handling, reliability and value for money that's the problem :?

Mark, I assume Paul and his missus took the car off you in the end - you can be sure that they'll look after it. Did he give you a spin in the RX-7 to seal the deal? ;) Good luck in the search for the Rex, you won't regret owning one, they're a serious driving package.

Hey man, yeah they did, nice bunch. They got up to Dublin pretty late so we didn't have time to go in the Rex, nice machine. I just wish I could get my girlfriend to like them. She's gutted about the loss of the FTO, crying again this morning, very embarrassing

That's more like it :smt023 Good choice B looked at some of these myself. Just not sure if I want to go the import route especially with the upcomming changes that no one really has any info on! Otherwise I would!

I wouldn't be too worried about the changes.
Whatever is going to happen isn't for a few months so you'd have time to nip over and back to the UK...

EDIT:

The top one's in Donegal...

I'm thinking more Japan! Have been intouch with the guy from Donegal as he advertised it in the rotary forum. I'm really after a type R or better and that isn't!

Mark, theres not a whole pile of difference between the Type R and Type RB (mostly cosmetic), the performance figures for both models is exactly the same.

Hey man,
from my reading I've got the type R as 20kg heavier but 15bhp more and 20 torques more, twin oil coolers and harder dampers than the RB. Info does seem to vary a bit over the net I find with the FDs'. Eddy has a 30th Anniversay RS in his place for sale which is 20kgs heavier than the type R again but with same bhp figures etc. Ideally after one which would be 'sought after' so I could move it quickly if I had to! It's back to trying to find a good one scenario. Yours was a type R right? And was there any particular reason you went with that one, price, model, good nic etc, etc?

Bear in mind that the FD was released in the US and the UK, some of the models didn't appear in the Jap market and vice versa. Power and torque output figures for both models were exacly the same as I understand it, whats important is the year. Cars up to 1997 were rated @ 255bhp, 1997-9 cars were rated @ 265bhp (newer 16-bit ECU) and from 1999 on 280bhp (all Jap figures). Note that theres a Type R1 and R2 (also a Type S, Type X, Touring X, Touring S, Type RZ, Type RS, Type RB, Type RB Bathurst, Type RSR and Spirit R - a, b and c). I have a link somehwhere on the Mazda Rotary Club thats pretty concise on the models - let me dig it out.

The Type R2 (my old model) has twin oil coolers for sure. The reason I went for it was engine compression figures (not to be underestimated) and the fact it had over £1k's worth of work undertaken by a UK rotary expert. Good engine health beats model choice every time.
