HID Flicker

I turn on my lights and after 30 seconds or so, one of them goes off and when i turn the lights off and on they both stay on, then another 30 seconds later the same one goes off again,
Is this phasing?
If so do i need to replace the bulb or the whole ballast?

Process of elimination on this one.
1 check all connections and condition of cabling.
2 replace lamp, worst case scenario you'll have a spare at best save yourself cost of replacing ballast.
3 Youv'e guessed it, Replace the ballast.

This is something I must do too, eventually the light goes, swop out the bulbs between the 2 headlights to see if its the bulb or the ballast, if the bulb is off in the one you swop into then its obviously the bulb, if not its the ballast.

When I had those symptoms I ended up having to replace the ballast..Wasn't that big a deal as they can be gotten for very little on eBay.

I don't know if there was a connection or anything but I'd mounted one ballast solidly to the chassis with three fixing points and the other just with the one so it was able to move up and down..

Finally got around to doing it was up 2 my eyes,
so i switched the bulbs and its just the bulb.
so was just wondering where to get a bulb?

these days you can purchase a HID set of ebay for that amount

There's loads available on Ebay, just match the colour temp.

They're the wrong size, you want 9006 (HB4).

They look fine, good price for two bulbs too.

Have a spare one here from an OEM HID unit, hid is totaled but bulb is still working not sure what the life left in it is like seems good, if your about Dublin you can have it

BALLAST
Changed the bulb, worked for about 5min and then off again the ballast is gone,
so which one do you recommend, theres a few on the bay (and i dont wanna buy a poor quality one)

Well I bought 50W ones from ebay (link in this thread).
I'm not sure if there's much difference between these and the 35W ones but the quality is top notch.

Hi guys, ive the same problem with my xenons, only mine were standard from day one, as i have a version r..
Got a mechanic to look, the ballasts were in bad shape, so he put in 2nd hand philips ballast. since then one gave in, im wondering if any 35w 12v ballast will do, found some on convert 2 xenon.com??????
