That's a FOB price

FOB is abbreviation of "Free on board". FOB price applies for all cars importes from Japan unless you come to our yards to take a car by yourself. FOB price includes export arragements in Japan (export and customs documents, documents translation), delivery of car from yards to port of Japan and loading onto the ship. Our FOB charge is one of the lowest for the car to be imported from Japan. FOB price is freight correct, and without marine insurance.

How much would you need to add to that to clear it?

no idea how much the costs are? Im sure a few on here have taken cars in. I think if I remember its about +30 or 40% onto the price when you add all the taxes and duties over here.

That blue 99 GPX €5,584
VRT €2,178
import duty around €560
VAT @ 21.5% €1,320
Total € 9,642

Total: 9642, and that's before you add:

4 tyres, € 600
cambelt, € 400
stereo, € 200
alarm, € 300
Service and NCT € 400

Making a grand total of € 11,500

which seems expensive.

The strong yen is a big disinsentive to import at the moment, the value add just isn't as prominent as it was last year when I imported.
