Whistling engine noise

Postby Gwyn » Wed Dec 12, 2007 2:12 pm

Came across an area of flooded road on the backroads around the airport on Monday. Was familiar with the road so I new that it did not dip too much so went through it. Everything is fine, expect I get a low pitched whistly noise from the engine. Nothing at idle, or when slowing / down shifting - but it's there when accelerating or maintaing speed.

Seems to be coming from the back of the engine if looking at the car from the front.

Any ideas what this could be ? Coincidence, or could the water have caused a problem ?

Cheers

Sounds like it could just be a wet belt, but you'd need to get someone's head in there for a listen while the engine's running.

Cheers Wildhound - from the sound I hear you are probably right - would have thought that it would have dried by now though.........

Yeah well I might just be an optimist! Make sure you check it out sooner rather than later.
