Won't start ?

hello again, took by fto mivec out the other day for a real hard blast, stopped for half hour afterwards and when i went to restart it, it only seemed to be firing on a half of the cylinders then stalled, turned it off and tried again - same. The 3rd go it started perfectly and ran fine for the rest of the weekend, Drove it to work today fine, but after work it wouldn't start at all, after about 15 seperate tries it fired, ran for 15 secs then slowly burbled to a stop, tried 3 more times before it started again, fired then missed and stalled, restarted it and it ran perfectly again, so i drove it for 2 mins and turned it off and left it there. I actually work in a garage mot'ing so I will run through the basics tomorrow, spark then fuel etc, just wondered whether there is anything common on them that fails as there is with some cars. When it struggled to start when hot, my first thought was the crank sensor, but it also 'sounded' slightly like fuel pressure, is there a relay anywhere or are the pumps known to fail, I am going to go through it all tomorrow anyway, but any pointers would be gratefully appreciated

Doesn't sound like a common issue, I'd be checking the plugs first too.

Check plugs / leads / fuel delivery / immobiliser relay and undertake a diagnostic to check for stored sensor codes.

right then, no codes are stored, fuel delivery seems fine even when troubles start, its now like this, i take it for a run and its all good, turn it off and restart it, it starts but does not auto rev when it starts as it usually does, it then struggles for a second and stalls, try it again and it starts perfect and auto revs up to about 1500rpm then settles as it should, also, when it struggles to start - if you push on the throttle it makes no difference. There is no change at all when driving???????

Vinny - it's probably not the issue but you need to rule out everything - take out the stepper and give it a good clean
