Alarms

Postby richardc9052 » Thu Feb 03, 2011 1:43 pm

Ok i have been doing a lot of routing aroung my fto the last few days and have found sensors for an alarm everywhere, including an interior proximity sensor... now i dont want to start ripping the interior apart to follow the wiring but i cannot for the life of me find the alarm itself.. i have a Falcon alarm keyfob but it doesnt seem to do anything. :(

So where are your alarms located normally? engine bay? under the dash?

Anyway im loving my fto :D

First up -check/change the battery in the key fob. If there is a led on teh fob does it illuminate?I think the control units tend to be in the passanger or driver foot well or else the engine bay.

Check under both seats for the control unit, behind the carpet in the passenger footwell is a favorite location, as it the rear quarter panel.

Also there's a piece of trim in the drivers foot well below the steering wheel.. you wont be able to see up there so stick your hand in and have a poke about (sorry)..

keep in mind that the metal framework up there is a bit like razorblades..

Isn't that piece of trim just held in by clips?

Maybe different car I'm thinking of?

Pretty sure there's a screw or two in there... but then.. it's been so long that I could be thinking of a different car..I just remember getting cut to bejaysus when I installed my little el-dial dimmer yoke on that same panel..

It looks like the actual unit has been removed as i couldnt find it..
I tried following the cables from the sensors but they are unplugged (as in there is a male connection at the end)

Why would someone remove an alarm?

Could've been faulty..

..or..

person was looking to resell the brain gubbins of the alarm, seems silly though as as far as I know the costly bit of an alrm these days is all the senors and a good install..

atleast now you know...
