Rattling noise

Postby ftowannabee » Fri Jul 28, 2006 1:52 pm

When I'm driving over bumpy roads, theres a rattling noise that seems to be coming from the passenger side near the back seat. Has anyone ever come across this? Is it easily fixed?

Trim has come loose? Can you be more specific about the rattle, is it metallic or plasticy? (is plasticy a real word?!)

ill go with mustang , front passenger seatbelt.
simply solved, get out, open passenger door retension passenger seat belt, and make sure all passengers either retension belt as they leave car or sit em all in the back in future

I found a wheel nut that found its way from the boot to under the rear seats - was making a bit of a racket. A common FTO fault is loose wires in the rear passenger side behind the panel - if you can take off rear seats and get your hand around you should be able to tape up any loose wires.

If the sound is coming from lower down in the car and is an actual rattle then it could be your rear Anti Roll bar bushes - stick some poly bushes on.

Its a metallic rattle and seems to be coming from inside the side panel. I may have to take out the rear seats and have a look round cos its driving me potty!!

It might be worth checking your rear droplinks under the car to see if they are worn, they tend to rattle quite a lot as they start to wear.

I had this and it turned out to be the top hat section which the rear trim screws into. It in turn should be secured to the body but mine was loose and the bolt for it was lying behind the trim.

15 minutes work and a quieter car.
