need information about timing belt

Postby LSpec » Sun Jan 11, 2009 8:45 pm

Hi,

Here is a problem to find a timing belt for a FTO, can someone help me with this?
What i need to know are a few things about the timing belt.

number of dents from the belt
wide of the belt and long
the dents are round, square or semi square.

I know I have my car with a belt, but if I take it to look for it my fto will stay dead in a garage that is what i ask to you, and only have the time to find it.

6a12 engine, mivec. (1995 FTO GPX)

Thanks in advance.

Lspec, easist thing to do is buy one from Camskill:

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m3b0s9p458

Or get the kit (worthwhile and good value). Also consider changing the water pump if it hasn't been done.

thank you, i know it is easy to buy in camskill, actually I am already thinking of buying the kit that you said.

But I ask because I want to know how many replacement parts can found here in Guatemala (a little away from camskill  )

Do you think it is necesary to chance the water pump, my car has 45000 kilometers.....

Unless you have a full stamped dealer history on the car from brand new, then change the pump.

Plus, you have to do all the same work anyway to get at the pump, so for the sake of it you're as well off just changing it.
