I'm just curious how often you guys change your oil ?

some say that's vital to change it every 5ooo km to have a healthy engine . Is this just a myth ?

Here they say every 3000 kms,but i think thats if you use cheap oil,i prefer to change it ever 5000km or around and change for good oil.Ah,and change oil->oil and filter->oil->oil and filter,i think everyone is doing that. :P
I'm spanish, sorry if my english is so poor,i learned it at school when i was a kid and i forgot almost all of it lol

I try and do it every 7000km if I can, but at the longest if I don't get around to it then its 10000km.

My SC Zed has had more oil changes than I've had hot dinners - possibly a little over zealous but I'm taking no chances. In the 10K miles that I've had the Zed its had at least 6 oil changes. Although a lot of that has had to do with other bits I've changed on the car and sure while I'm at it I might as well change the fluids.

I'm not sure which I find more surprising -the fact that you've only done 10k miles during your ownership term or that you've changed the oil six times during that period :smt017

When they say he has engine oil running though his veins... :P

I'd tend to err on the side of caution too, not to the extreme of Myfectkin, but generally less than 5000 kms. Lot easier when you have the right tools to hand though.

Well I did have the RRS (put up 30k miles on that) and now the Murano (10K miles already) which I used primarily as the daily drivers hence why I haven't covered more than 10K miles in the Zed.

As for the oil changes - well I've done a lot of work on the Zed over the past year - so I'd change a suspension arm, brakes and fluids and would then change the oil while I'm at it. Change the Diff and fluid - change the oil. Refurbed the supercharger - changed the oil. Before the 1/4 mile - change the oil. Before and after a track day - change the oil. And so on. And I've another track day in a couple of weeks and I'll be doing another oil change for that - the SC runs quite hot on a trackday - oil temps of 110-130 degrees so theres no harm in changing for the sake of 50Euro - I regard it as an insurance policy on my engine which is running on fairly tight tolerances at 420bhp.
