brake disks, please help

please help. i have to change my front disks on my gr, can any one tell me if the hub nut is revese thread? and can any one give some advise as how to free the damn thing as it seems to be pretty damn stuck.

is normal thread, use the wd40 with the long tube and soak that nut repeatedly and then pull up but careful not to hurt urself in progress ... almost broke a finger from pulling too violently after the nut unblocked :)) ..

By HUB nt I assume you are referring to the larger CV joint nut. If so.
You dont need to remove the hub nut to get the disks off. All you nee to do is unbolt the caliper from the hub. Remove the disk, on with the new one. Push bach caliper piston to allow for the thickness of new disk. Reinstall caliper and on with your wheel.

thats what i thought but didnt wanna sound stupid if i was wrong.

Thanks guys for the advice. more wd40 is on my shopping list, just have to re-build the two callipers reattach em to the disks put the wheels back on and go in to town to get some GRRRRRRRR
When im say hub nut i mean the big 32mm nut that hides behind the centre cap of your alloys, you know the big one.

no the big nut in the centre of the wheel

THATnut does not need to be removed. and for reference it is an imperial size 1 1/4". That nut is for the outer CV joint.

Forgot to say once you have the caliper andbracket off. Hit the disk a slap of a hammer from behind and it should fall off.

thanks my bad, was heaving a straining to no avail, so i resigned my self to get a mech in to do it and of course as i was putting the caliper back up to the disk i knocked it off. then the best bit halfords got me the wrong pads they're to long yipee grrrr

You'll probably find the problem there is that they have a listing for a 2L V6, but it refers to the pads for the Mivec engine cars (larger pads).
The GPX was available on the UK market and so is more likely to have a listing -compared with the GR which was only available as a grey import.
