Sometimes I wonder why the f**k I bother....

Postby soc » Tue Jul 31, 2007 12:24 pm

...owning a nice car at all!!!

I took advantage of a nice day on Saturday and washed/polished/waxed the TT - came up really nice but but the end I was absolutely fuming  I saw the full extent of the multitude of small scratches all over the bonnet as well as finding a new (small) indentation near the bottom of the rear bumper.

I'm guessing some d**khead knocked against the rear bumper with something angular.

As for the bonnet - given this is the first time I've washed the car myself and I've never put it through machine or jet wash (I've only ever had it valetted by a guy that comes to our office) I've no doubt some toerag did this deliberately. Worst thing is last time I had the car valetted I also had it buffed - came out brilliant but now that's all bloody wasted effort.

When I saw the scratches initially I was thinking of getting carcraft to remedy the problem but now I'm wondering should I even bother - I've no doubt it's only a matter of time before some tinker decides to mark her up a again......

To say I'm frustrated or at a loss is an understatement right now - total mixture of rage and boderline despair. :smt022 :smt013

I understand this 110%. Feel the same way about my car, yet every time I wash it I find some other marks (especially on the rear bumper) where someone has tapped it. I think the majority of drivers don't give a flying fcuk about their car so use it like bumper car. I absolutely hate people with towbars on their civic or family saloon etc? Why? how often are you towing? ever see the mark a tow bar leaves on your front bumper? all that force projected through a tiny point onto your bumper. ARGH.
I had the car 3 days when I got a scratch on the door down to the undercoat. You can imagine how much I freaked out. Was talking about spraying the whole door etc. eventually got paint matched and applied it, t-cut it, applied it t-cut etc its not noticable really now but I was not happy at all. some ignorant chump scraped something off it.

What kind of statement is that to make? And what makes a tow bar on a "family saloon" less acceptable than on any other type of vehicle?

    LMAO.... haven;t laughed so much on here since I joined

"my eyes, the goggles do nothing"

and

"Is that photoshopped"

LOL... top replies.

Ok Ok, so its a very broad statement. My dad even has a tow bar and is a very careful driver. He got the tow bar because some plank hit his last car a few years back and although it caused very little damage, his boot never closed properly after that. so he got it for protection. what I mean was I have seen many people who use the tow bar as an aid to reverse into tight spots. I have seen this several times with my own eyes. horrible to watch. Its only a tiny nudge of course, BUT... its the entire weight/mass/force of the vehicle transferred into a tiny spot on the bumper and will leave a mark at least but probably a dent and paint damage. Makes me cringe. I apologise to safe driving tow bar lovers everywhere. :)

i do agree though, i hate towbars, my old man has one, and in fairness, it's one of those detachable jobs, only puts the tow hitch on when he needs it!!

This has been my number one fear since I bought the FTO last week. In my old Punto I didn't give a damn because it wash bashed to bits when I bought it (though I still never so much as tapped anyone else's car!).

I actually deliberately park in the farthest or emptiest part of a car park now.

I do this too but to be honest but i've still got pin dents from idiots opening their doors into my car. But it's the scroats who deliberatly scratch the painwork that really hack me off - I think I might need to get the bonnet resprayed to remove the scratches on mine... and if I do that I may as well get other marks touched up..... time and money down the drain which is annoying!

Speaking of tow bars and the astro park - last time I was down I walked into one - nearly crippled me - spent an hour limping round the pitch
