- Timing belt, tensioners, pulleys - camskill
- Alternator belt - camskill
- Water pump - camskill
- Oil filter - camskill

- Gear oil (manual) - ??? - opieoils
- Engine Oil - 5 litres full change - 5w-40 synthetic Motul 8100 Xcess - opieoils
- Rocker gasket - camskill
- Brake fluid - 5.1 - Where, how much and what brand?

I would just add a good mechanic,

I left my car to my local guy who I've been dealing with for years along with the full workshop manual(courtesy of the office photocopier and binding machine) and all the time he wanted to play with it.

Took it back off him there after new years and the car never felt tighter he also advised me on a few things that I would be as well getting changed now rather than down the line, one of my real callipers was sticking a bit and told me one of my steering tie rods could so with changing which explained some uneven tire wear.

Ordered the new bits Monday and getting them fitted on Saturday so hopefully my fto is is going to be in good shape for a while.

Just a personal opinion but i wouldn't use that grade of oil in the fto 10w40 at a min for me as 5w40 just two thin, be like using water.

Like i said just a personal opinion but wouldn't want you ruining your engine.

Possibly a new sump plug? I've been reusing mine and it's fine but some peeps do replace theirs every time.

Other thing that comes to mind is the fuel filter.
Air filter or sponge or even cleaning fluid.

Brake pads? Discs?

Steering rack gaitors if needed, in which case you'd probably also need new track rod ends.

Wiper blades?

I wouldn't bother mail ordering oil unless I was getting it cheaper than locally, which is unlikely given the weight and volume impact on postage.
I also think that fully synthetic engine oil is a waste of money for the FTO -yes it gives you a nice warm felling inside that you are buying the best for your baby etc. But that baby is ten years old+ and has more than likely already spent most of it's life running on semi-syn.
Fully syn for the gear oil though. I use castrol syntrax or SMX-S. 2.2 litres required.
Sump plug washer.
For a simple oil change I'd buy the filter at a mitsi dealer or motor factor.
Also note that standard brake fluid is dot 4. you'd need to bleed the system fully with suitable fluid before upgrading to dot 5.1 (you should also label the reservoir accordingly).
The belt kit from camskill is excellent value.
However if you are just changing the p/s and alt belts, they can be bought cheaply in any motor factors.

Off topic:

If you drive your car hard or bring it on track then fully synth should be a serious consideration - semi synths breakdown much easier under prolonged stress and have a shorter change interval. In my experience, fully synth oil makes for quieter tappets (assuming they're not worn).

...or if you can't get the grade of oil you want I might add. Try and order Mitsi Diaqueen II/III graded oil in Ireland for example (see below).

Back on topic:

ATF for tiptronic gearboxes

Note that Mitsi specify that Diaqueen (aka Diamond) SPII/SPIII ATF should be used in the FTOs automatic gearbox, up until recently, most of us have been using Dextron III ATF due to a lack of availability of the right grade. I recommend using Amsoil ATF over Dextron III, it meets the standard (i.e. contains the right mix of friction inhibitors) and has a higher boiling point than Dextron III. Boiled \ incorrect fluid can contribute to torque convertor failure.

Opie Oils offer a club discount and supply Amsoil ATF, click here for more info.

I will be going fully synth for the reasons CJ mentioned, my plan is to bring it on the track this year. Looking at their prices and some shops here and getting oil for my car and derek's it works out cheaper.

I think I'll go for the dot 4 alright, 5.1 needs more topping up. I suppose it's no harm to bleed the brakes every so often but don't know if my mechanic would be willing to do that.

Where do you get your gear oil Mustang? Halfords? Is the syntrax not part synth?

Track rod ends were replaced recently, have a new sump plug bought and what wipers would you recommend folks?

Fair point on the engine oil front. Actually you are right about the syntrax, I must have been confusing it with the SMX-S which is fully synthetic. What I meant to say is do not use a mineral based oil. I see opie are charging the same for both.
The workshop manual specifies 75W90 or 75W85 conforming to API GL4 or higher.
They both retail at about €14 to €15 a litre. Any motor motor factors should have them. I've used both. (slightly OT but I've been using magnatec 10W40 engine oil for years now, it's usually ~€33 retail for 4L, my local motors factos had it on offer at €29, meanwhile halfrauds were asking €40  )

I started a page about 2 weeks ago but never got around to finishing it. Keep adding info and recommendations to this thread, I'll update the page accordingly and integrate it somewhere.

Page is looking good CJ, very comprehensive already, perhaps the main page would be the place for it?
You could modify this...

That said it might lead to non members quoting FTO-Ireland for discounts :smt017

Not bad! It might be worth putting in a disclaimer, not necessarily a comprehensive service schedule, etc etc.

Just a suggestion - include how much of the gearbox oil and engine oil needed. Hoping to change my engine oil and gearbox oil today, just thinking I must look up how much I need. Engine oil is 4.2L (WM 1, 12-2 p71), and the manual gear box takes 2.2L (WM 1, 22-3 p272).

Same for coolant and brake fluid I guess.

So:

Fluid quantities
Engine oil: 4.2L
Manual Gearbox oil: 2.2L
Automatic Gearbox oil: 10L (full flush) or 5L (empty sump only)
Coolant: ?
Brake Fluid: ?

Note: ATF quantities based on my own experience.
