Rev limiter kicking in at 6500 revs????

Hi all,
Not sure if this is the same as the problem as shown before on this forum, but overtaking this morning got to 6500 revs and then on the limiter (its a manual by the way ) no lights on the dash everything seems normal. Thought it may just be a glitch but no, wont rev past 6500.

Any more ideas and help much appriciated

Leave the car for a few minutes to warm up ,
The mivec Doesn't engage when the engine is cold ( cuts out when you reach 5500 rpm ) .
