Leather workshop?

Postby kevinod » Tue Jul 19, 2005 2:01 pm

Guys,

anyone know of a leather workshop around that could do a small bit of work for me? I need to get the cubby box cover done and stitched, and would like to get the door cards stitched so they take the shape of the doorcard better too.

I know a few names were mentioned in this thread, anyone use any of these guys since, or can you recommend any of them? Ideally someone in Cork but I could take a day off work to go up to someone who'll do it for me in a few hours.

They're talking about supplying stitched door cards & cubby box covers on Ftooc, but (a) won't use the leather they already sent me for the door cards/cubby box cover (which I haven't used at all) and (b) want £50 PER SIDE for the door cards and £40 for the cubby box cover.

I've already bought the leather off these guys, don't want to pay for it twice!

Yeah, its works out at just over €200 for the lot when converted over which is pretty pricey, I'll have to take a look at the finances and see if I can afford them now, I may have to spend the cash on panal repairs that I've been putting off for some time :?

Kev as far as i am aware the leather isn't stiched to the door cards but glued to them, not to sure about the center cubby box, i'll take a look at mine in the carpark later as see exactly how it is all done.

Ya, the leather is glued on, the stitching is to help shaping the leather to the door card, so in theory it'll stay where it is easier.

The centre cubby box is stitched and fitted onto the box lid I think.

Kev,

Yep it is only glued on but i can see your point about the stitching helping it keep its shape, as regards the center cubby box it might be glued i'm not sure but it is stappled on the underside which you can see when you open the lid as per nornal.

Al, gesture much appreciated, but the £140/150 is more than I want to pay for it, so I'm going to see if I can get something done with the stuff I have. I'm sure they'll do a great job on those, but I can't justify spending that much extra at the moment.
