Alloy fitment - bore?

Can anyone explain the concept of 'bore' to me? My theory was wondering was it the width of the bolts that hold on the wheel (the holes that had to be 'bore-d out') but thats prob way off...

I know the FTO is 67.1, but could you put for example a 60.1 bore alloy like the lexus wheels, onto the car?

Kev, the bore is the diameter in mm of the central hole in the wheel.

If it is too big for the hub spigot, then the wheel will fit, but vibrate without fitting the plastic ring.

If it is too small for the hub spigot then it needs machined by a specialist engineering shop.

Too big is defo betr than too small-as usual :lol:

Hey, you know size matters! :lol:

So when you say central hole, thats the gap that the hub fits into, right?

*edit - pic didnt' come out right*

Just trying to reconcile that though with wheel sizes... a 17" wheel is going to have a wider gap there, so a 16" and 17" wheel are going to have different bore?

Nope, bore is completely unrelated to wheel diameter

Ok, then I'm a bit lost I'm afraid :smt017

What hole is it the diameter of then?? Sorry if I'm being stoopid but the penny isn't dropping! :?

Wheel size doesn't come into this Kev - a 16'' wheel could have a larger bore than an 18'' wheel or vice verse. Its just the size of the location hole on the centre of the hub or on the corresponding fitment on the alloy.

Ah ok.... I get what Dave was saying now after looking at that, merci buckets!

So its the hole in the wheel in the centre of the circle the bolts fit into. :)

Just to be clear - it's the center hole in any alloy wheel which sits on the hub
