Fibre Glass Question

Postby TopCat » Tue May 20, 2008 11:03 am

Not sure if this should go in the technical queries or not, but I might get some help here anyway.
I'm just starting a little project (may come to nothing so won't bore you with the details), and I'm looking to make a mould of couple of bits on the car, and I think fibre glass will be the way to go. Anyone know of a good place to get the materials I need, fibre mats, resins etc? I've been looking up a couple of sites and found some info on how to work with fibre glass, but any good sites or tips in relation to it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks as always :D

Halfrauds do kits as far as I remember.

Cheers lads. Went down to Halfords alright, and they have the main bits anyway. Most are repair kits though, and aren't designed to give as smooth a finish I would like for a mould. I think the only thing they're missing is the gel coat, which gives the nice finish (from my limited knowledge of fibre glass) so I might just order that off the net.
Looking to make a mould of one or two parts, and then remake them in Carbon Fibre. Just a little pet project though and it may come to nothing, but we'll see.
