Folding Mirrors Query

Postby steelroe » Fri Mar 21, 2008 8:32 pm

I just wondered if anyone can confirm the following.
Are there 2 versions of the button for the folding mirrors.

On the 2 GPX's I have here,
one of the buttons is spring retun. i.e When you press the button the mirrors fold and when you release the button it springs back to its original position.
The second one is a rocker type, if you push it one way it closes the mirrors and the other way to open, but you can also stop the mirrors in any position by returning the switch to the mid position.

May seem like a silly question but I am in the process of making up kits that allow the mirrors to fold automatically with thecentral locking. Andyes thes will be an option to switch it off if you want to. as regards pricing I will update on this in a week or so.

I can confirm that there are two types of switch.
1.My 95GR had the spring switch. They were off the battery so if you pulled out the key while they were moving they would still retract fully.
2.For some reason on my 99GX the switch is two position and power is removed when the key is out. You have to wait for retraction before getting out of the car. A pain in the ar$e......

Mine dont, if I turn off the engine the mirrors stop moving even with the button pressed.

So can we take it that facelift models have a different switch?

No not facelift. The 2 GPX's I have here are 95 and 96, both pre-facelift

My 95 GPX had the springy switch that centred, Are the plugs on the back of the switch different, and are the switches interchangable?
