would 15's and low-ish profile tyres be a good idea if he's looking for acceleration? I know it'd look cat.

Colm - the theory is sound - but as Dan mentioned to takes a special kind of driving to put down approx 200 horsies on 15s without wasting a bunch of time smoking up the immediate area..

Smaller Rims/Tyres = Quicker Accelration
Larger Rims/Tyres = Higher Top Speed

I'm reasonably sure that Small rims would look a bit naff on an fto as well - I'd like to be proven wrong though.

some FTO's have standard 15" wheels, if you could get a wide enough wheel, you should be able to get the power down?

15's might be standard on some but but they'd look shocking with a low profile tyre. Bit like that one that was for sale a while back in my opinion.

but for someone who was contemplating a low ratio gearbox for 1/4 miles, surely smaller wheels for these events would be far more cost effective?

Agreed, function over form.... add a few CF bits, purely for weight saving, and you'd have a fine trackday weapon.

Or keep your existing wheels for looks and buy a set of lightweight 15's (keep at least a 50 to 60 profile for both looks and performance) with Drag radials (for 1/4 mile) or slicks (for track).

heh - now THAT could get exciting really fast on the drag strip - especially on a car with LSD where it'd be possible to actually get some heat in to both tyres..

Also - the everyday driveability would be retained cause it only takes a few moments to change two wheels :-)

OT but has anybody bought a LSD from camskill, and if so, did it make much difference to the drive? drove 2 GPvR's and can't say they were radically different to a GPX.

Don't think you'll notice much of a difference in a FWD car - certainly not on the road.
