Is anyone out there running wider tyres on the stock rims on the front or rear, e.g. 225/50/R16 instead of the standard 205/50/R16.

Would this be detrimental to the handling at all ?

They won't fit - AFAIK you can run a slightly skinnier tyre on a wider rim but no the other way around - IIRC the FTO standard rims are 7" wide - I run 225's on an 8" wide rim and they're just the right size (i.e. not stretched) so I'd say they'd be way too big for a 7" rim.
